Help me give my students library books that are written in both Spanish and English languages, so they can take them home for their parents to read to them!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a Title I elementary school that serves a diverse pre-K through a 5th-grade population. We are located in an urban area of central Arkansas. Our students enjoy engaging in a variety of activities such as literacy, athletics, arts, music, and dance.
We have limited funds available for extra-curricular activities, so it is essential that we secure funding through other sources so our students can enjoy the best life has to offer.
My students and their families are important to me and I want them to know they are worth the investment.
My Project
I teach elementary students who are learning the English language at school while Spanish in the primary language spoken at home. Teachers commonly encourage families to read to their children at home. However, most of my students have parents who can only read in Spanish but would like to read to their children as well. For this reason, I wish to begin a bilingual take-home lending library. This lending library will allow the students to check out a book that is written in both Spanish and English languages, they can take it home, and their parents can read a new book to them every night!
