This is my first year as librarian at this school. I have already been talking to students about having author visits this year, and they are super excited. The students at this school have never had this experience, but they are ready and asking how we can get their favorite authors "on campus".
My students are passionate about reading, and crave the experience of listening to authors talk about their craft and why they are inspired to write.
My goal is to get students connected to as many amazing authors as possible. We have an amazing community of educators at my school who are eager to participate in these opportunities.
The author will be reading her book, "The Grand Circus/Gran Circo", teaching the students how to write numbers correctly, using animals in her interactive presentation.
Minia Lopez shares her experience of being an immigrant from Spain, growing up in a Spanish-speaking country, coming to the United States as a teacher and following her dream to become an author.
She inspires the youngest of our students to dream big.
The real life experience of having an author come to present to our Pre-K and Kindergarten students is something they will never forget. This is an opportunity that would be so valuable for our students.
