My first grade students are in the beginning stage of their education where they constantly display a contagious eagerness and excitement about everything that encompasses school and learning.
They are especially curious about the world around them and soak up new knowledge like a sponge.

My Project
These big books will make a humongous impact on student engagement in our classroom by making read-alouds and our Big Book Reading Workstation fun, exciting, and interactive.
BIG WORDS and BIG PICTURES are essential when captivating young learners' attention as reading strategies are being modeled during read aloud and new content is being introduced.
After being introduced to the Big Book during read aloud, students will encounter the same Big Book at the Big Book Reading Workstation where they will work on building their fluency through choral reading, hunting for word wall words, and using highlighter tape to highlight high frequency words. Students will also practice their handwriting as they copy their favorite words from the Big Book onto their writing paper.
