The students here at our school are super motivated to succeed and need a little help from donors to get there! I see every 5th and 6th grader and some 7th graders for general music, and I also have band, orchestra, and chorus for grade 5-8.
The students here at my school are accepted based on their academic merit, but still have the challenges that face inner city students.
Many students do not have the best home life so my goal is to improve what I can through music. Right now we have 100 students signed up for instrumental music! Our school has a total of around 400 students, so we have 25% of students participating in instrumental music, in addition to almost 10% more in choral music. The students here love music, evident by the 1/3 of the student body who chose to add to what they get in class.
I think the students here deserve the best, and I work hard to give them what I can, but could always use some help!
The projects I do on here are bigger ones that I wouldn't be able to fund on my own, so any help is greatly appreciated.
My Project
The materials I am requesting are all things that my students need in order to play their instruments correctly, and for them to be able to truly experience real instrumental music in school. I have requested such a large amount of materials because all of these things are what are missing in order for the students here to have everything that they need to succeed. Some students are using their shoes as end pins for their cellos! I have requested things such as cello end pins to prevent them from slipping, violin/viola should rest sponges so that the students can play with correct posture, cork grease and valve oil for our brass and woodwind instruments, strings to replace our broken strings on cellos, and a few other items in order to get every instrument up and running and ready for the students!
I have requested the cheapest option whenever possible so that this project can get funded, but it will only happen if you the donors can help us out!
This is the largest project I have done and I hope it will be the most successful!
