Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am an occupational therapy assistant at our elementary school. Our school is located in a low-income city. Many of the preschool students lack the foundational skills to be successful students. We provide a group to all of the preschools to increase their fine motor skills and prepare them for kindergarten.
Many therapists spend their own money on supplies.
We no longer have a budget for these groups. These supplies will assist us in running the best groups for our students.
My Project
I am an occupational therapy assistant who works in substantially separate classrooms and integrated pre-school classroom. We use paper plates, glue and tissue paper to create projects. Corn starch and salt are used to in sensory centers. The kids are having so much fun they do not realize all the skills they are working on!
Many of our students do not have the foundational skills they need when entering kindergarten.
We provide group lessons for our students to increase their fine motor skills to prepare our them for kindergarten. These supplies are essential for helping our students succeed in their education.
