My Students

Our site services at-risk children and families in Mid-Michigan. Many of these children live in poverty or have special needs, or both. In our classrooms they learn the social and academic skills that will help make them successful in kindergarten and beyond.

Most of these children struggle with basic needs at home, but they still come to school every day, excited to learn and grow through play.

Play is the work of children and the best part of teaching this age is the pure wonder and awe they have when they experience something new.

My Project

Big play provides so many important opportunities for preschoolers to learn and grow. We LOVE spending as much time as possible outside, but sometimes the weather or our schedule make it hard to be outside when we need to be. Big play helps us reset when we are upset as well as learn important skills like spatial reasoning, physics, and conflict resolution. Strong gross-motor skills also promote fine-motor skills which they need for writing!

These supplies will allow us to offer safe choices for children who need a reset and a place to move when these cold Michigan days keep us inside.
