My Students

We live in rural Maine with limited resources and a high level of poverty. The students in our school need to be supported to succeed academically and find how they best learn. I teach junior high-level mathematics in a small school. My students enjoy the flexibility of learning in small group environments and with teachers who look after not only their academic needs​ but their needs as a whole. The more we encourage our students to succeed academically, the more they will thrive throughout their lives. I also run a technology club for grades 4-8.

My Project

I am always looking for math games that help build strategy skills. My students have fun playing yahtzee, battleship, blokus, and cribbage.

This connect 4 game would help build my game library so we have the resources to play and practice mathematical thinking.

As the junior math teacher, I like to provide activities to my students, but also the school body that is both fun and supports mathematical thinking. Not only will this game board be used with my students but during school wide activities with younger students as well.
