My students are amazing! Teaching at a low income school has given me such great insight into the lives of some incredible individuals.
Many of my students come from broken homes and have taken on some great responsibilities.
They take care of siblings, homes, and schoolwork all on their own. For some, it breaks them down. For others, it brings them to their full potential. I have seen some students give when they have little. I have also seen many struggle through issues that many would shriek under. But through it all, they show up and do what they can to succeed.
My students need larger scissors to accommodate their growing bodies. We do many projects that require the use of scissors in my classroom and many of my students can't use the classroom set I have because they are growing kids.
Big kids need scissors that will fit their hands.
Also, lessons and assignments get boring if it is always on the same boring white colored paper. Adding colored paper to the mix will excite students to pay more attention and focus on the unit. I plan to have each unit copied in a specific color so they know which assignments are needed by color.
