Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students from Denver are enthusiastic 4 year olds eager to explore, discover, and learn. This Pre-K/ECE program gives children from all cultures, areas, and various incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within the district. Over 75% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
Our students gleefully read books, draw colorful pictures, build structures, and pretend play throughout the day using a project-based learning approach.
In our district, our youngest learners are going back to in-person learning again in January, so this project will contribute to making this transition as smooth as possible, addressing big feelings as they come, while allowing for social distancing and staying safe. Help us put a stop to the impact this pandemic is having on our learning!
My Project
Our students are incredibly curious four year olds attending school for the first time in the middle of a pandemic.
We will use books, Lego blocks and other tools to help our students learn more about feelings, about safety and about themselves so that they feel confident and ready to embark in the adventure of learning.
Pre-K is the ideal time in which students will learn to manage big feelings and learn to be safe to be ready to learn. Our students need help learning the words of feelings, regulating their little bodies and minds and expressing their emotions in a safe way.
