Hello! I teach in a 4th-grade classroom in Alaska! There can be up to 7 different cultures and languages represented in our classroom. This coming school year we will be working hard at learning how to handle our frustrations and become a community!
I teach at one of the most diverse elementary school in the nation; we are a Title I school here in Alaska, and all students qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
My students bring a variety of cultural and demographic backgrounds into the classroom. I am working on creating an environment where my students feel safe and comfortable.
My Project
These tools will help my students learn to manage big feelings in a healthy way. Too often they deal with their frustrations, change in routine, anger, or excitement by shutting down, acting out, running away from the situation, etc.
These resources can help my students learn to manage themselves inside and outside the classroom.
The curtains and rug are for the creation of a quiet space to go to when my kiddos are unable to calm down in the normal busy environment of the school. The ear muffs allow them to cancel out some of the noise that comes with a very active classroom and the fidgets and timers are tools for students to use to monitor and calm themselves.
