This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a beacon of learning in a very, very poor neighborhood. We are a title one science magnet school. More than three-quarters of our students are from low-income households. This in itself can create many challenges for the children.

My classroom is full of children who love to learn.

Our days are filled with reading great stories, learning to write, singing, dancing and laughing. We love to laugh.

These little ones are our future. I want it to be a bright one!

My Project

I have accumulated many books over the course of my 18 year teaching career. An organized place where the book titles are easy to see would be helpful to the children. The children love to read! They have many opportunities through out the day to pick up a book and read with a friend or a book buddy (small stuffed animal). Reading is such an important part of our day. The book stand will house seasonal or thematic books the children can read.

This bookstand will give the children an easily accessible place to find books they are interested in reading.
