My Students
My school is a small PreK-5th grade school in northern Maine. We are located in a low income area. Each child is able to receive free breakfast and lunch, and this is truly a blessing.
I teach first grade and have students with wonderful and creative little minds.
They are always eager to learn new things and becoming a reader and writer is one of the highlights of the school year. The transformation between the beginning of the year until the end is truly amazing! Books of all shapes and sizes are loved in our class!
My Project
My first grade students love to read! One of our favorite spots during the day is on the rug reading big books together.
We would like a proper big book storage spot.
This will allow the kids to see the book titles that we have and allow them the responsibility of taking care of them. Currently our storage center for big books is a plastic tote! This is not ideal because the books bend and rip easily. The children also have a hard time finding a particular book in the pile. A proper storage spot would protect the books and make it easy to access them. We would be so appreciative if we had a new storage spot for our beloved big book collection. It would be used each day when we do daily 5 activities in our class.
