My special education class is made up of some pretty spectacular kindergarten and 1st graders. I teach resource, inclusion, self-contained, and tutorial classes. Our class is made up of students who have: attention deficit disorder, developmental delays, specific learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, intellectual disabilities, other health impairments, and autism.
Despite their disabilities, my students come in my class smiling and eager to learn everyday!
Watching their smiles and excitement when they achieve a goal makes my job the most rewarding ever!
Our class has several BIG BOOKS already, but we are in need of a bookshelf for them. As of right now, all of our books are stacked on top of one another, and it's hard to look through them and get one out to read. This shelf will make it easier for us to find books, and it will hold the books as we read them aloud. The size of pictures and words in big books help children to focus and follow the story as they are learning to listen and read. They are also a fun way to motivate children to want to read and to create an exciting way for them to experience books. We will use this shelf everyday during our shared reading time! Thank you so much in advance for your help!
