"The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery." - Mark Van Doren
My inquisitive third graders are always searching to reach outside their comfort zone to learn more about a world full of possibilities.
They are curious, confident, and striving to become community leaders.
The majority of my students have a variety of obstacles to overcome. They need extra care for their social, emotional, and physical needs. My class consists of a majority of ethnic and social backgrounds. Many families struggle financially. My students use their big hearts to support one another and celebrate each other's successes.
These big and beautiful beanbags would be a great addition to our classroom's "safe spot", giving students a safe space to process and utilize social-emotional coping skills they are learning.
Our "safe spot" seating is a part of our classroom that is utilized daily when emotions are running high, the world is too big for comfort, or students are in need of safe space to solve classroom conflict.
Having to process and overcome many adult situations at home, my students utilize this space daily to feel safe and take an emotional break.
When not needed as a "safe spot" my hope is my class will enjoy these big chairs as a great quiet reading spot!
