Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students who attend our campus are part of a united school community who have truly brought on a new meaning to the term Panther Pride. I am fortunate enough to work with approximately 120 students per grade level, ranging K-5, in addition to about 80 middle school students throughout the year. Many of our students are members of the original founding families who have built our school community up to where it is today. I now have the privilege to enhance their educational experience by introducing an international aspect to their learning.
Foreign languages and culture studies will help lead to the creation of global citizens with critical insights and appreciation for the diversity of the human race.
It is my desire to bring forth a deeper sense of human diversity and acceptance, foreign language practice and appreciation, and the preservation of cultural backgrounds, traditions, and geography so that children better understand who they are and where they come from.
My Project
The materials selected will truly enhance the overall cultural and language experience for the students in my Spanish classes! The Match It! Spanish-English Activity Pockets, ABC Letter Locks, and magnetic letters will be used to reinforce critical ELA skills while crossing over to learn basic fundamentals of a new language.
Allowing students to create with their hands reinforces what the mind already knows, as well as, provides a way to let the mind discover.
Tissue paper sheets and flowers will give students the opportunity to transform our classroom into a cultural experience with the decor of many festivals and traditions.
