Help me give my students multiple genres of reading that will help their minds grow, their curiosities grow, their vocabulary grow, and take them to places they may never get to.
My students are motivated, hard-working individuals that come each and every day ready to learn, ready to try, ready to overcome mistakes they had the day before, and ready to give their 100% each day even when it is tough. Many of my students come from mixed homes and homes that have been through trauma and poverty, but that does not stop their motivation or drive to make good choices and to be exceptional. With my love of growth mindsets, we talk about how to turn situations around and see the positives and talk about what they can control. This offers students choices in their lives and a new way to look at the world around them.
My Project
Have you ever wanted a book and the classroom library or school library does not have it?
My project is all about developing a love of reading in my students and intriguing them by interesting books that will suck them into the pages and allow them to travel to far away lands, battle dragons, hit home runs, develop a love for mystery, laugh until their bellies hurt, and so much more!
My students come from diverse backgrounds and have such diverse abilities of reading so students need more collections of books to explore, read about, and to places to travel to. Many students love horses, baseball and sports, graphic novels, fairy tales, certain authors, and I want to get those books into the excited hands of my readers.
