Do you remember when you developed an interest in something but were limited in your resources to pursue this interest?
I work in a Title 1 elementary school in Florida.
My students have limited resources at home and many do not have access to the Internet in their homes (or even computers) Some of our students are homeless and many don't have books at home. Many of my students are very inquisitive and want access to learn much more, but we are limited in our school resources. I currently teach 48 students in 2 classes.
My Project
These Kindles will impact my students by giving additional resources to allow them to read books or make Internet research based projects. My students are really tuned into technology and enjoy being able to use it when they are given the opportunity. We are currently researching the 50 states and working on projects about our history. My students want the opportunity to learn but we are limited in what we can share. These would allow the students more opportunities to enrich their minds.
History, in many ways has become the forgotten subject in many school districts across America.
My school district is dedicated with giving us the time to teach our country's history. What we are limited in, is our technology resources, to allow our students the opportunity to discover our history, while building a bright future for themselves.
