Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have grown up in an inner city; many of these children face poverty, violence and obscenities of life on a daily basis that are well beyond what most of us could not imagine. Despite all of this, they come to school ready to expand their minds and continue to explore. My students continue to be hopeful and strive for their very best.
They are always looking to learn new things and explore different subjects more in depth; they come to school hungry for knowledge trying to do their best to learn as I try to do my best to give them a good education and an introduction to the American way of life.
My school has limited resources, and the parents have even less, so anything that donors can do is so very appreciated.
These children deserve the best and I plan to keep doing my best to provide them with the skills and tools they need to be successful on their journey in life after leaving my classroom!
My Project
We have an after-school program for elementary students. And as we continue to grow, we need to implement more safety in the program. However, during dismissal we do not have an effective or efficient way to communicate with each other. The current walkie-talkies are out of date and barely work. If there is something happening around the school, it is hard for us to get in communication with each other without the use of our phones.
I would like to get these Motorola two way radios to help the teachers communicate from around the school and outside so that students are safe and dismissal runs smoothly.
These brand new walkie talkies can help us communicate so we can be better able to instantly alert anyone for any issues with dismissal or anything else during school hours or after school hours.
