I work with students with a variety of exceptionalities. My students are curious, hard-working and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging activities and challenges that allow them to remember what they learn! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take more chances than other students would in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
Many of my students show me that they have difficulty concentrating in a classroom and completing assignments due to the lack of concentration.
My students also have limited supplies since I am a first-year teacher! I am always trying to find new ways for these kids to learn new concepts.
I am trying to give my students from all different cultures, areas, and various incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within their school. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have my first group of learners to be as excited as I am to go through this journey together!
My Project
I teach students who have a more difficult time with learning and focusing. However, that does not stop them from being motivated. My students are hard workers and are very eager to learn. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Most days I allow my students to choose where they are most comfortable learning in the classroom. Currently, my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, my cozy reading area with lots of pillows, or sitting or laying on the floor with a clipboard. Making sure students are comfortable is key to motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They are learning to make smart choices about where they sit and how that will affect their learning.
The products that I have chosen, like wobble seats and cushions, will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices.
I also have chosen a document camera to help further my student's learning.
The wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! The cushions will allow my students to more when they are sitting in regular chairs. I have also chosen some products that will allow my students to gain access to more information when learning.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work! I hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
