The students in my classroom are very diverse. They each learn differently, come from different backgrounds, and need different supports in my classroom. But what my students all have in common is their love of learning and excitement for school.
I work hard to provide an environment in which all students will thrive.
This includes providing comfortable and flexible seating options. Flexible seating lets students feel empowered by having choices, improves physical health, encourages students to find a comfortable place to stay calm, focused and productive and encourages children to share more and engage in more thoughtful discussions.
My Project
Children spend many hours in school and they should have a comfortable, engaging and enjoyable place to work! Having yoga balls as an additional seating option in class will significantly improve focus in my classroom. 5th graders need to move and the yoga balls give them an opportunity to move while they work. The dry erase table is a fun and engaging way for students to work through math problems, create Venn diagrams for reading or organize their thinking during writing. Having this innovative and more flexible furniture will help my students work harder, feel more comfortable and enjoy coming to school.
