I teach 47 hard working 5th grade students in Bridgeville, Delaware. My classes are very diverse both in terms of ability levels and also culturally. Three of my students receive Gifted and Talented services while 18 receive special education services. Covid-19 has hit my students and families very hard. We are presently in a hybrid model where I teach students in person every other week as well as students who are fully remote at home. Due to this I am in need of materials that will get my students more engaged both in the classroom and remotely.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting will help me provide better remote math and science instruction for my hybrid learning students when they are at home on a remote week, and my fully remote students who always learn virtually this year. Each day I teach between 15 and 18 students in person and then log on for a Zoom each day to teach my fully remote students. Presently, to teach math on Zoom I have to use the laptop mousepad to write math equations and draw visual models while instructing my students. With the Wacom tablets my teaching partner and I will be able to connect it to our computers and draw using the included pen. This will make our instruction more efficient while providing a smoother appearance to the students and allowing us to be more creative with how we provide remote instruction.
By donating to this project you will help increase student engagement and understanding during remote instruction.
Additionally, we will be able to provide individual pairs of headphones for our students that do not currently have their own pair. Due to limitations in sharing supplies our students are unable to utilize technology that has sound because they cannot use our school headphones that would be shared with other students.
