Our students are special because they live in a small, rural, forest community. They can look outside and see turkeys running on the grass, cows in the fields, squirrels in the trees, and birds nesting in our windows. Our students are lucky to live in a supportive community that is fairly small so they do not go unnoticed.
Sadly, our schools are continually receiving less money toward student education.
As a long time teacher I am motivated to provide my classroom with as many opportunities as possible. Each year student needs increase academically, socially, and financially.
What our students do have, is fresh air and beautiful scenery around them. I would like to use that to enhance their education to its fullest. With that, we have the perfect setting for a school family night.
My Project
I am organizing a spring Family STEAM Night our school won't forget... My plan is to use our GATE students to set up and create STEAM based activities for our K-8 school. My goal is to help GATE students learn how to organize an event and all the activities that the students will participate in. These materials will inspire students to set up a table that is engaging and enjoyable for their peers. Most of the activities will provide tools that will help the students organize the activity of their choice. This is an opportunity for the GATE students to build upon their leadership skills and their ability to work with a team.
