As a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district, my students are faced with problems inside and outside of our classroom. Despite the challenges they face, they come to school excited to learn. I admire how they put their best foot forward when they walk into the room no matter their circumstances.
My students are book lovers who jump for joy each time they get their hands on a new book.
This year, with the help of my family and friends, the students in my class have begun to build their at home libraries. My students get one new book to take home each month. I love to see their excitement each month when they get their new books!
My Project
As my students' at home libraries are growing, I am constantly searching for books to grow my library as well. These books were all chosen with my current students in mind. They need books that they will enjoy reading.
Students who love reading, have found books that are right for them.
Students who do not love reading, have not found the right books...yet. It has been a goal of mine this year to get all of my students to the point of loving to read. By having new books, my students will be able to pick from a variety of books that will grab their attention.
We are also working on becoming more organized. Organization is a skill that will be valued throughout their entire lives!
