My second-grade classroom is transforming from a traditional classroom of instruction to a technology-infused classroom of collaboration and exploration.
At my school, students have a passion for learning, contributing to their school community, and solving real-world problems.
All of our school's students are eager to learn and have great potential. Our students deserve to learn skills that they can apply in their technology-rich futures and careers. I feel that providing opportunities for students to work with age-appropriate technology helps our students become better learners and gives them the foundations for a tech-infused future.
My Project
My students are exploring next generation science standards of pollination, life cycles and how plants and animals help one another.
My students are not just young learners, they are young scientist who have a passion for insects.
With books about pollination and different types of pollinators, my students will build an understanding of the importance of bees, butterflies and other working bugs.
Having specimens that students can observe closely will help my students build essential science skills, and an understanding of the infects they are studying. After building an awareness of what aids an insect in pollinating, my students will create their own insects to help the pollinators.
Having science centers for students to practice their skills of pollinators and classifying insects will help them understand the uniqueness of each pollinator.
My students will share their learning in a culminating showcase of a student created play, advocating for the protection of these pollinators.
