Help me give my students books that allow my below-grade level learners to feel empowered and successful, as well as bins to help me and my students explore, organize, and store our daily materials.
My students love coming to school. They are excitable, hungry for knowledge, and ready to do their best EVERY DAY! My students love our classroom. They love to learn in a warm, friendly, safe environment that nurtures their abilities and needs while engaging their minds. They are eager to learn and love coming to school so they can be empowered and successful in life.
I teach at a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
We even have a supper program for our families. Due to the low SES of our community, I feel a strong responsibility to bring as many resources as I can to my students. I am grateful that Donorschoose.org has afforded me the opportunities to expose my students to amazing resources.
My Project
Students thrive in a classroom that is light, bright, and organized. Storage bins help us keep a classroom that is organized and that runs smoothly throughout the day. Our classroom needs some storage bins to help keep us do just that. These sturdy, clear bins will allow me and my students to easily access materials by skill, standard, or story and have materials prepared for immediate learning. We will use these storage bins for reading, writing, science, social studies, and math. Organization and time management leads to better prepared students with strong executive functioning.
In addition, our classroom library is in dire need of books that are of high interest to students who are reading below grade level.
Every year, I have several students that are reading at a Kindergarten level in my second grade class. We need books they can read independently, that are of high interest, and help them develop a love for reading. Students who are having difficulty reading deserve books that engage and motivate them. This project would help make a beautiful difference in our classroom for my students!
