Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At my school, we have exceptionally talented and dedicated students who are willing to go the extra mile to have a dynamic and challenging music education. Our students may face very difficult situations at home and around them, but their willingness to persevere and their tenacity has set them apart.
Our music students have gone on to do great things in the community and in higher level music education.
We are honored to know that many of our scholars have received scholarships and high placement due to their work in music. We are very proud of their work and are excited to see what great things they will do this year. Music has done great things for our most at-risk youth. Let's help them continue their great work!
My Project
This year, our school has seen an increase in student activity in our string and orchestra program. We had several students apply for music performing high schools as well as saw our involvement double in the last year. In order to meet that demand, we need more string instruments.
With this cello, we will be able to offer another student a chance to join our orchestra and band program.
Through this program many students learn to perform as well as gain a sense of self-discipline that they may not get other places. It gives our students a sense of belonging with many of them going from mediocre students to top performing students. This cello will allow another student play for their parents, their classmates, the community, and their teachers, which will build a new sense of connection and self-worth.
