I am a reading teacher in a title one school in Brooklyn. I work with at risk third and fifth grade students. My biggest goal is trying to help my students overcome their feelings towards reading. Having struggled for years, my students rarely describe themselves as readers despite their hard work and determination. I would love to bring in materials that would appeal to my students and make reading enjoyable, fun, and exciting. I would like reading comprehension games library and word lab quiz games from lakeshore. These games are designed help children become more efficient readers. Students read their way through adventures as they strengthen a specific skill. I believe as my children play the games they will lose themselves in the excitement and become so engaged that they will have an enjoyable reading experience. This will strengthen their vocabulary comprehension as well as their ability to grasp cause and effect. Most importantly, these games will help students see themselves as enjoying reading and believe that they can be successful readers.
