In my classroom of 18/400 students, I believe that all children can learn and benefit from the high achieving, high energy, and all-inclusive environment that I attempt to provide and construct for them each day.
I teach at a public, Title I, STEAM Academy in Texas where all of our teachers are NISE (National Institute of STEM Education) Certified.
At our school, my students and I become a “family” during our time together. My students are differently-abled and we strive to support and encourage each other on a daily basis. We promote a “growth mindset” attitude as a way to accomplish great things in our class, around our school and out in our local community.
My Project
At The Ron Clark Academy, Professional Development Day I expect to learn new techniques to increase student engagement while observing master teachers in the process of constructing, demonstrating and implementing their craft in real-time with their students, right before my eyes.
Because of the rigorous academic standards expected at RCA, upon my I return to my classroom I'll have new ways of increasing student interactions by planning and executing exciting adventures in learning through Project-Based Learning and by providing a STEAM rich learning environment.
After this training, I believe that I will be able to set higher-achieving goals for each of my students. I will have a better understanding of how to provide engaging, cross-curricular and meaningful lessons to increase the learning potential of my second-grade students.
