Help me give my students fun incentives. It's important to remember that 5th graders are still kids! They are motivated by cute prizes such as erasers, squishies, pencils and bookmarks. They utilize TheraPutty to keep their hands busy.
This school year, I branched out from early elementary inclusion to 5th grade reading, writing and social studies. Along with the change comes 36 students that will be a product of my teaching. I want the students to continue to feel part of a classroom community and love to read and write. I have a combination of 14 girls and 22 boys who are uniquely diverse, with differentiated needs because that is the beautiful nature of my district.
We speak a lot about classroom community, not only about respect and kindness, but about maintaining an economy through positive reinforcement.
Please help me to motivate my students in a valuable way.
This project is a little different from mine in the past. It focuses on an ticket economy system in our room that is used to not only teach about economics, but to motivate students to achieve academically, to work hard and to be respectful of one another and me.
Motivation is a huge component in every classroom, it is a part of classroom management and a way to inspire students to reap the benefits of a job well done.
This project includes things that allow the students to have a variety of things that motivate them. I have been teaching for several years and positive reinforcement is so powerful in the classroom. Along with fun items that remind them that they are children (who love to read and write), I have included Theraputty for my students who need to keep their hands busy so that they can focus.
