My students come to school every day excited about another day of learning. I know this by the smile and the conversations we have each morning. Each day we work hard together to know that as a team we can accomplish great things. With loving and supporting each other we work hard to make sure every student learns and grows together.
I teach third grade in Minnesota where a third of the students are low income.
I have fourteen wonderful students.
The students feel very fortunate and proud to come from a rural community where everyone cares for them and works hard to make a difference in their lives. We live in a town where most students know a majority of the community members. The students show their appreciation by working hard each and every day. We have many great opportunities for students living in a rural community, but students sometimes do miss some of the opportunities that urban areas may see due to funding.
My Project
Teachers and students are coming upon the most challenging school year we will probably ever face. I am honored to be able make sure students are learning, but we face some extreme challenges.
Every summer I prepare for students to be successful during the school year, this year I am preparing to have students use the surf seats so that they can spread around room to learn.
I am working to make sure students are safe and social distanced.
The students I have taught have been very lucky in the past couple years to be in a flexible seating arrangement. This has given the students the opportunity to move around and enhance their learning experience.
The problems we face this year is that the amount of students at the tables will be limited. With this in mind I am asking for help in purchasing seats that will allow students to be seated around the classroom.
By purchasing surf seats I will be able to help the students follow social distance rules. We will spread students around the room. This will help students to be safe and prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
