Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My classroom has this mantra: "In this place I am a mathematician, writer, lawyer, doctor, scientist, teacher, and scholar because here I will be, can be, and am great."

This is the mantra I keep in my classroom for every student to see.

On the first day of school we say it out loud and discuss it as a revolving statement to guide them throughout the day and throughout their lives. I am a 4th grade teacher at a Title I school in South Dallas where I want my students to strive to be great regardless of circumstance.

My Project

My students are eager to learn and grow into several STEM related careers from a baker to an architect at the tender ages of 9, 10, and 11. For them to step forward into their dreams they need up to date materials and the opportunities to explore scientific and mathematical text. I am requesting tablets to do just that. A scholar can read or listen to text about anything for the states of matter to bioengineering to grow their breathe of knowledge to both interesting and school-related content. The goal of this project is to give scholars the opportunity to explore beyond their reach inside my standard classroom library.
