While all of my students live in the same neighborhood, their backgrounds, home language and cultures vary greatly. There are students with special needs, ELL needs, behaviorial needs, and emotional needs. I set high expectations for all of my students and strive to give them quality experiences that they may not otherwise receive. Hands-on experiences are crucial for my students to deeply learn within the classroom.
My students are all excited to learn in fun, engaging, student-centered ways.
My classroom is dedicated to not only teaching my students academics (letters, numbers, colors, shapes) but also incorporating social and life skills (solving disagreements calmly, taking turns, sharing their thinking with others, including others no matter their differences).
My students are hard workers who love to learn about everything using a growth mindset. They add the word "yet" to the end of their sentences when they are faced with a road block. They always embrace the challenge that they need to try hard things in order to make their brains grow.
My Project
These books will help my students to see that not everyone in the world is the same, and that is OK. They will teach my students about students with special needs and how to embrace themselves for who they are. They will also teach them more about having a growth mindset.
These books will help them to embrace their differences.
They will help them to build an acceptance and appreciation for people that have needs that are different and similar to their own. These books will also teach them how to have a growth mindset when they get to things that are tricky.
