I teach in a low income/high poverty district where my students face many challenges inside and outside the classroom. My students have very little opportunities for learning outside the classroom, and several have little parental support at home. Despite these challenges, my students are always eager to learn. I want to provide my students with all the opportunities possible. I want to give them all the chances to as many meaningful learning experiences as possible.
Despite the odds, my students love to learn new things!
They get so excited over the basic things in life. I want to show my students that they can be successful in life by showing them that someone cares for them and their education. I want them to become more independent and "own" their education.
My students need flexible seating to help them focus more on learning. We will use the bean bag chairs during silent reading and in our classroom library. We will use the lap desk during whole group and independent activities. These different types of chairs will allow the students more freedom to move around in. Some of my students come from backgrounds that are hard for some of us to even understand. I want my students to enjoy learning. To help them enjoy learning, being comfortable will help them focus more and want to learn. My students long for love, comfort and knowledge.
My students need different kinds of seating so they can learn in a welcoming environment.
I want to make my class a place where they feel safe, comfortable and eager to learn. These are students who will genuinely appreciate what have been given to them. These students strive to be their best even under not so great circumstances.
