This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students from Texas are part of a self-contained life skills classroom. They create a new adventure daily for themselves and myself. When they make new discoveries, accomplish milestones, and just show simple kindness towards each other, I know I followed the right path in life. We are a family inside the walls of the class. I am there for them when they succeed and pick up the pieces when they​ have to try again. They are unique in the best way possible.

My Project

Please, help my students with their literacy growth through the use of storytelling kits. My special education students benefit greatly from hands on instruction. These kits help give my students tangible items to connect to​ the words in the stories. As I am reading the books, they will be able to hold concrete evidence if the characters, plot, setting, and details in each story. The kits will be used to build their vocabulary and give them a solid foundation to grow their own personal reading skills. These kits would be used multiple times each week for small group and circle time.
