Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I want everyone of my students to return to school and feel successful when they finish fourth grade. I want them to have the tools (supplies) they need to do their best on every assignment or project. Our biggest challenge is budget cuts! Our supply budget has been cut to the bone and we will be without basic supplies.
My students are eager to learn and thirsty for knowledge!
They love to do projects and work hard when they are challenged. Our school is in a high poverty area of the city and most of our families struggle every day just to provide the basics. We are a Title I school with 100% of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch every day. Many of these students rely on the school to provide more than just their education. They receive breakfast and lunch at school, clothing, shoes, backpacks, coats, and other necessities. Most students arrive at school with no supplies at all. Our families can't afford to contribute even pencils or tissues to the classroom. It is often difficult for the school to meet all the needs of all the students.
My Project
There are many supplies that are needed to make a classroom run smoothly and be conducive to learning. These supplies will allow us to create fabulous projects to display on bulletin boards, hang up materials to decorate our room, and clean up for a safe environment.
These supplies will support my students across the curriculum!
They will be able to improve their reading abilities, test taking strategies, and computation skills. These basic supplies will allow them to complete any project or assignments by having the tools they need to be successful.
