The excited chatter that came after I told my students I was starting a photography class next year (2020-2021) was probably the highlight of my year. It's scheduling time at our school and the amount of students that have come up to me and told me they have signed up or heard their friends have signed up for the photography course has been overwhelming -- to the point where we may have two photography classes next year!
I want to give my students the full photography experience, so they can fall in love with the art form as I did.
We haven't had a photography program at my school in nearly five years. We had our dark room ripped out to make way for the plumbing pathway and our equipment is lacking (we only have three working digital cameras that are quite old).
I am so excited to begin to build this program from the ground up. My current and future students are excited as well. I can't wait to give them a skill they will be able to use for the rest of their lives -- even if it means just photographing food for Instagram!
My Project
In a world full of fancy phones and portrait modes, it's easy to believe you're a photographer. With the photography class I'm starting next school year (2020-2021), my students will truly be photographers; they will discover the history behind photography, learn how to use a DLSR camera, understand how to properly frame a scene, discover famous photographers, and so much more.
By donating to this project, you will ensure my students have all of the tools/equipment they need to take professional-grade digital photographs and hopefully ignite in them a passion for photography.
