Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Some of our students do not have home situations that encourage proper school behavior allowing them to learn. I want to set behavioral goals, teach social skills, prevent bullying, and academically motivate underachievers.
My school is located in the community of South Central Los Angeles.
We are the home of the Lions where we always say, "Never, Never Give Up." I have thirty-one wonderful students that come to school ready to work and do their best. Our class logo is "Dedication - Hard Work." They come with a very diverse range of home structures: nuclear, single parent, foster and migrant, to name a few. My students love to be at school and enjoy learning, especially when the activities involve STEM. Many of them are already planning to become engineers, scientists, or mathematicians.
My Project
I would like to purchase some wonderful materials to reward my students. The wristbands and bracelets will allow students to feel like they have accomplished something when they receive their points. They can set a goal and feel good about themselves when they reach their goal. The rewards I would like are wristbands and bracelets.
These incentives will help them increase their confidence because they will see the growth they are making.
I know that once people start participating, they will see incredible growth. My students will become better citizens and role models for the school and community.
