Our Title I school is in a rural district that includes several small towns and communities. There is only one public library in the district. My begindergarten classroom has up to 15 young five-year-old children. The students in the begindergarten program are chronologically ready to enter the school setting, but may not be developmentally ready to endure the rigors of the kindergarten curriculum.
Begindergarten allows these students a year to develop the foundational skills to enter kindergarten the following school year.
We focus on foundational reading, math, fine motor, and social-emotional skills. My students are all so unique and learn in such different ways. They love to learn through inquiry, love to play, and love to be creative.
My Project
The start of the year can be very expensive for families and these much-needed supplies will help my students have things that we need to help our classroom run smoothly without asking families to spend a lot out of pocket, especially with many families struggling right now due to the pandemic. These necessary resources will assist my students in their instruction on a daily basis. Students will be able to use the dry erase markers during whole group and small group instruction when we work on our whiteboards, or on the plastic sleeves. The card stock, scissors, clipboards and spinners will be used for math and literacy games and activities. Kleenex tissues are always a must have item in any classroom and the water bottles will keep students stay hydrated which in turn, helps the brain and immune system.
My amazing students will be able to utilize all of these materials every day!
I can't wait to see their smiling faces when they receive brand new resources that will help them learn in the classroom!
