My students need help with the beginning of the year supplies such as crayons, glue sticks, scissors, pencils, markers, and construction paper. It is hard to come into the first few days or weeks without supplies to begin work and learning.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Can you imagine trying to begin school and not have supplies for your students? Unfortunately, it is that way in low income schools. I hope that you can help me with the supplies that my students will need to use on the first day of school. It will help my students have the confidence that they need.
My students are five years old, and come from low income families and neighborhoods in Alabama.
At the beginning of the year they are so unsure of what to do. I believe having the tools they need when they come in will make a difference. Most of my students are on the free lunch program due to coming from low income or single parent families.
My Project
My students will be so excited to come in and see that they have crayons, glue sticks, scissors, pencils, markers, and construction paper that they need to start their school year with. They won't be embarrassed because they don't have the supplies that is needed for school or they won't have to come to me to whisper, "My mom didn't have enough money to buy them." It's hard to buy so many supplies out of my own pocket, especially in this economy.
I want my students to know that they can still learn and be as smart as other children who come from better income homes.
I believe if they can build that confidence at a young age then it will be there for a lifetime. It's important to me to be able to help and teach them all that I can.
