Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love the ability to come in every day and create music with my students. The joy in seeing my students become musicians and develop a love of music and culture gets me out of bed and ready to go in the morning. At my elementary school, we have a diverse community from many backgrounds and we celebrate our heritage.
Our students crave exposure to many different cultures and perspectives.
Through our music programs, children are able to perform songs from different cultures, styles, and languages at school. Through music "we are one."
My Project
Our school has never had the opportunity to have a beginning band program. This year we aim to strive to create a beginning band program to allow access to instruments for our 5th-grade students. With the help of "Bringing Music To Life," we have acquired band instruments for students, but we are also in need of music stands and books for the students to learn from.
Music is a universal language understood by everyone.
With these music books, our students will also be able to access the same enjoyment found by students the world over by playing an instrument. Since we have instruments donated, we need a few extra supplies to make this dream become a reality.
