My students need materials like comfy seats, a classroom timer, markers and charts for learning Spanish so they can see how easy it is to learn a new language.
I am lucky enough to say that I will be teaching Spanish to students of all backgrounds. Whether they may already be familiar with the language or not, we will all begin this process together as it is their first year as students and my first year as a teacher.
Kindergarten may be the first social experience that a child faces which should be filled with laughter and knowledge.
We will not only begin their journey of their academic skills, but social and life skills as well. I am ecstatic to guide them through that journey.
My Project
I am honored to say this will be my first year as a Spanish bilingual teacher and am lucky to be teaching kindergarten.
Learning a new language is a beautiful thing but can be greatly assisted with visuals and books they may be familiar with.
Having visuals can greatly help a student learn the language being taught. These visuals include a giant classroom timer so that they are able to see time being counted down as opposed to guessing how much time is left. Another great visual is to be able to have a schedule that can be easily updated daily to let the students know what it is that we are doing throughout the day. At this age, students are learning letters, numbers and how to be able to express oneself. There are amazing books to help students with these which I have added in my list, such as the un pez, dos pez and emociones books. Being aware of this, I want to be able to accommodate my students’ needs and allow them to have the chance to sit on the floor. The floor seating seats are perfect for a Kindergartner. I am determined to help my students succeed in any way possible.
