I have the illustrious honor of teaching an amazing group of second graders that have a wide range of diverse academic needs. With that being said, I am confident that with the use of the right resources and instructional strategies, I can ensure that my students will experience high levels of academic success!
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”~Benjamin FranklinThis quote truly inspires me to create an environment in which my students are truly able to excel. Therefore, I work tenaciously to create an experience that promotes student engagement and collaboration.
My students love learning and are even more motivated to perform at high levels when the use of technology is integrated. At the beginning of this school year, I asked them to make a list of skills they wanted to learn this year. I was not surprised to see learning how to program a robot (coding) was at the top of many of their lists.
Coding is the language of the future and a fundamental skill that is needed to be competitive in today's job market.
Whether it is summoning Alexa to perform a command, dialing a phone number on our cellular phones or setting your security alarms systems- all of these functions require a code. Therefore, it is essential to equip my students with the skills necessary to be able to innovate and create such algorithms. The Bee-Bot Robots will be used in our literacy and numeracy centers throughout the instructional day. During our literacy block, the Bee-Bots will be used in phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension centers. Additionally in our mathematics block, the Bee-Bots will be used to practice number sense and problem-solving strategies.
I am confident that Bee-Bot Robots will enhance our ability to achieve the vision of APS CLL to GROW as learners, become LEADERS or their own learning, and TRANSFORM that new knowledge into becoming college and career ready!
