My Students

As a STEM teacher, I have the privilege of working with kindergarten through fifth grade students in our Makerspace and individual classrooms. The integration of STEM learning experiences has been nothing short of magical, helping my diverse students find confidence, passion, empowerment, success and creative ways to express their learning. Many of my students will be the first in their families to attend and graduate college. Helping spark an interest in STEM for my youngest learners can ignite a passion and change the trajectory for their futures. When you support my classroom, you become a part of their stories and successes.

Providing my students with authentic STEM learning experiences will give them opportunities to develop 21st-century skills, establish a growth mindset, and empower them to overcome any obstacles standing in their way and accomplish their goals and dreams.

My students are energetic, eager to learn, and excited to be in school. They love hands-on learning opportunities and having a voice and choice in their learning as they become empowered learners. I know they will deeply appreciate your generosity and support of their classroom, learning, and futures.

My Project

I am requesting six Bee-Bot Robots to use with my kindergarten through second grade students. I also am requesting this class set so the whole class can all engage and experiment with the same computer programming concepts, skills and challenges at the same time while working in collaborative groups. This is especially important as students are just learning to code and is essential for Bee-Bots to be integrated into core curriculum. My project will teach students financial literacy and computer programming - two subjects that are not always taught or integrated into the core curriculum, especially in elementary school. Therefore, I believe that merging the two subjects together to provide young learners with practice and application is incredibly important.

Students will use Bee-Bots to practice money concepts while applying coding skills.

Students will apply their knowledge of coding as they have to code their Bee-Bot to identify coin names, coin amounts, coin features and find the sum of multiple coins. Additionally, students will be responsible for recording their program the used to to reach their destination by writing their program on a piece of paper. This will hold students accountable for their programming skills as they practice math and money concepts. With your help, my young learners will be on their way to becoming financially literate computer programmers!

Thank you for supporting STEM education, financial literacy and my students!
