Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a rainbow of cultural diversity as well as academic and social-emotional levels. Many of my students come from non-native English speaking homes and have parents who work multiple jobs. In addition to this, students might have learning disabilities, communication needs, or physical needs. We celebrate, embrace, and support each other. We might struggle but we have reachable goals that we work to achieve. This is what makes my students and school community so special and unique.
My Project
These robots will help my students build academic skills by being able to use the robots to practice letter sounds, vowels, clusters, and sight words. These robots will work well in conjunction with our Fundations phonics program. They can also be used for several math lessons as well as a measurement unit.
In addition to academic skills, students will develop coding, collaboration, and communication skills.
Students will develop these areas by working together in groups and independently with the robots during classroom lessons, centers, and independent time.
Coding is no longer a buzzword but a necessary skill for students regardless of how young. This will allow students early exposure in a non-intimidating way along with being able to practice skills and collaborating.
