My students need supplies for STEM, and to enhance their technology skill set. I also shopped for supplies to accommodate a diverse group of students. Cultural related books, and art & craft, and cleaning supplies.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
What makes my students special is that they are such a diverse group students that I find myself learning about different religions, languages, and cultures. Last school year, there were 6 students in my class that practiced Ramadan, I was so intrigued with their dedication that I participated in Ramadan for a few days. I love that my students feel comfortable enough in my class room environment to make mistakes but have a greater desire to learn from them. I care about my students and am deeply committed to their education about environmental
issues.
My basic goal as an educator is to make society better by fostering educated citizens who
participate constructively in civic life. Three objectives flow from this goal. First, students need a working understanding of basic environmental problems, opportunities, and management strategies.
Second, students need to experience, emotionally or psychologically as much as intellectually, how
critically evaluating environmental issues can help them make better choices as citizens. Third, because the issues we discuss in class are too important for insight about them to be restricted to
people who have the opportunity to attend a university, my students must be able to communicateeffectively what they learn to others
My Project
These materials will make a huge difference in classroom environment, classroom culture, and overall in my drive for STEM skills. Students have a range of leveled books to increase their Stamina along with the opportunity to engage in hands on activities that range from technology, math skills, and STEM projects. My students are required to read 5 books per term in addition to our in-class novels. These books are perfect for that assignment. They are easy for the students to access, check out and return. This is important because our school library is only open 2.5 days per week. With these books in the class library, the students always have access to interesting novels.
Research has proven time and again that reading is one of the best ways to build vocabulary, improve writing skills, and build reading fluency.
