This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are a lively and rambunctious group! They come from culturally and economically diverse families. My students enjoy expressing themselves artistically. I am asking for art materials that allow my students to explore various mediums and materials. Students will benefit using these materials for their own creations and working with their peers.
My students love to investigate phenomenons in their world.
They are inquisitive, and can persevere when completing a project. My students are kind and helpful with each other. The children are always eager to lend a hand or make suggestions when their peers need assistance. The children are also able to work cooperatively to problem solve and work extend their learning in all areas in the classroom.
My Project
The art materials will allow the children to tap into their creativity by using various mediums. The new materials will serve as an extension of our art studio. Children will have various materials that will strengthen their hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and expand their imagination.
The building materials will allow the children to plan, create, and readjust as they work diligently to complete their structures.
The children will be able to create large life-size structures as well as miniature creations. Both types of materials will strengthen fine motor skill as well as challenge the children to use critical thinking skills. Children will work cooperatively and practice conflict resolution skills while completing their creations.
My students also enjoy creating structures using various mediums and investigating phenomenons around them. The materials I am asking for can be used for the children to plan, implement, and recreate as they feel needed. Hands-on exploration is key for my students' success in honing in our their mathematical skills such as balance, measurement, and geometry tasks. It also helps build an inquisitive nature needed to be lifelong learners!
