Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in a middle-class neighborhood in California, and most of my students live within the school boundaries.
The school is distinguished from other schools by its stimulating and nurturing environment, which recognizes and celebrates individual differences.
Our school community exhibits the vision, courage, and passion necessary to enrich the lives of our children. My students range from struggling to advanced, with most at grade level. They are curious, enthusiastic, and funny 4th graders! They love learning with hands on activities, music and new technology.
My Project
Having a classroom set of "Number the Stars" will helps us complete a fuller unit with resources provided by the program "Violins of Hope." Our class was chosen by California State University, Northridge to participate in a first of it's kind program. Partners with FacingHistory.Org, students learning about the difficult history of the Holocaust by fostering empathy and reflection.
We will these books to integrate the study of history, literature, and human behavior with ethical decision making and innovative teaching strategies to promote students historical understanding, critical thinking, and social emotional learning.
This unit hopes is an effort to create safe and inclusive schools.
