This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom is full of active 5 year old students who are excited to be at school. They are beginning their first school and classroom experience when they walk through my door.
My class consists of students that are Vietnamese, African-American, Hispanic, and Caucasian.
Many of the students are English Language Learners. The majority of our school's students are from a low socioeconomic neighborhood, and they have been limited in their exposure to many things. I am thrilled to be their kindergarten teacher and able to provide them many opportunities they haven't been afforded.
My Project
I would love to be able to add to my literacy centers and tools for use with reading intervention. Providing my students with fun and engaging activities, such as the magnetic storytelling, stack and build phonics set, and crayon word building, is so important to me. Being able to provide the students with educational literacy centers that keeps them focused aids me in effectively delivering small instruction or intervention to others. My students are learning to sound out, blend, and build words. They are on the way to becoming readers and I'd like to support them with the appropriate resources. I believe that these materials will provide them with the fun, engaging activities that will get them there!
