This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are from the Southeast Philadelphia area, receiving 100% free breakfast and lunch. Our students come from diverse backgrounds, all bringing something special and unique into my classroom. We learn and grow from one another every day, both inside and outside of the classroom. They come to school every day ready to learn and try new things.
My students love to read and listen to fun books, do creative hands-on activities, and play engaging educational games.
Watching their faces light up and seeing each child engaged in the learning process, is a unforgettable feeling!
My Project
The skill of reading is crucial in the early years of a child's education. Teaching young children to read helps them develop language skills, helps them learn to listen, and develops their growing minds. In kindergarten and first grade, this is when the most development in reading skills begins.
With the purchase of these wonderful books, my students will be able to explore the world of reading through fun and engaging books.
My students will be able to read entertaining books like A-Z Mysteries during our independent reading time. My students also enjoy our Read Aloud after lunch and recess to settle down. The chapter books like James and the Giant Peach or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, will be a great addition to our small collection.
Please help my students obtain a wonderful collection to our small classroom library. Help them find the joy in books and expose them to the variety of genres out there.
