I am a 6th grade teacher this year, working with an amazing team of 5th and 6th grade teachers! We each have a class of 25-30 students.
Our students are very curious and love reading, technology, and doing art, science, and STEM activities.
Our school really focuses on students taking responsibility for their behavior and learning, as well as coming up with creative solutions to solve real world problems. The students love technology and will take every chance they can to use it! Last year, all standardized test scores were below 60 percent proficiency in 5th and 6th grade. 20 percent of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. We each have multiple ELL students who need accommodations to lessons to help them succeed.
In our school we work hard to integrate technology into the classroom. Technology can help further learning and prepare students to live in a digitalized world. Our school places an emphasis on STEM activities and works to encourage students to develop various skills and master the Engineering Process.
Having iPads in our classroom will help make our STEM activities more manageable and effective for student learning.
We can use them to record ideas and product tests. We can enhance creativity with various apps and websites. They can use the iPads to watch related videos and read articles that will help with the concept we are studying. My students are excited to learn and love being able to use technology to help further their learning.
